COVID-19 Cases in Indonesia Surpass China on July 20


One at a time countries in the world have steadily surpassed China - the first to report the worldwide epidemic - in terms of reporting the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Indonesia comes as no exception after on early Monday morning the Johns Hopkins University reported that Indonesia racked up a total of eighty-six thousand five hundred and twenty-one confirmed cases.

According to the Johns Hopkins University world map coronavirus, this effectively ranks Indonesia 25th directly above China - which currently reports eighty-five thousand three hundred and fourteen cases in total.

The United States of America remains to be the country that has been hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic with a total of three million seven hundred and sixty thousand nine hundred and seventy-five cases. While Brazil and India that has ranked second and third recorded two million ninety eight thousand three hundred and eighty-nine and one million seventy seven thousand seven hundred and eighty one cases respectively.

On July 9, Indonesia recorded a record-breaking two thousand six hundred and fifty-seven COVID-19 daily cases when China still recorded eighty-four thousand nine hundred and fifty cases. The three most devastated countries with the highest number of the death toll due to the virus that reportedly first broke out from Wuhan, China are the United States, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Indonesia has ranked 25th worldwide by recording four thousand one hundred and forty-three COVID-19 deaths which is not that far from China that has recorded a total of four thousand six hundred and forty-four deaths.
